LUCIUS

Inspired by the works of Lars von Trier’s depression trilogy, particularly Melancholia, as well as by Gustave Doré’s illustrations, this short colour showcase depicts the banished soul Lucius being guided to the lower realms. The profound corruption of the soul is conveyed through a low-saturated olive green-grey tonality. Lucius further embodies the absence of life with a greyish skin tone. Lower luminance levels were deliberately employed to emphasise that a once-powerful soul is now deceased and largely unrecognisable.
